Renapet July 7th progress report


Hey gang,

Sorry the update still isn't finished. From here on out, I'm not going to promise hard deadline since I can't guarantee consistent work  as of yet. But I made some decent progress this week. So let's get into it.

I worked mostly on Rena Catch this week. I put the animations in and they helped make the game feel a lot more impactful.  I did notice a few issues though as the perfect catch animation needed to transition back to the idle batter, so I fixed that. 

I also noticed that I hadn't solved the problem of just mashing the catch button to try and catch as many balls as you could, so I increased the time after a miss that you couldn't catch another ball. So it will be important that you time the catch properly. Since the punishment for missing a catch has been increased, I'm going to be changing the "miss" animation to match. Before it was only two frames, so I'll expand it to b e more of a tumble, so it takes more time for Rena to recompose herself. I also adjust the catch ranges to feel more consistent. I still have  a bias towards it though, so I'll probably end up changing it a bit after y'all give me some feedback.

I also worked on the UI for Rena Catch. I tried to make the pop ups when you catch or miss a ball have a good amount of impact to them. I think they came out okay, but I might work on them a tad more later down the line.

Also, since the game is going to be playable on Android too, I realized the "Digivice" that makes up the on screen controls would need a Directional pad for some of the other mini-games. So I expanded on the previous design a bit. There wasn't really any previous digivices that fit what I needed, so I kinda needed to make my own haha. In the full game, the buttons  will be available via tough screen, so you can play on your android phone or a tablet. 


Next thing will be implementing the UI in the game, both for the catch status and the amount of balls left for the round. Impon also still needs to be animated. He'll kick the ball launcher to start it after the game starts, and he'll also react based how well you do on each catch. For example, he'll laugh at you if you miss a catch, but will pop off if you get a perfect catch.  The clouds in the back also still need to move. And there's still a lot of small stuff like more game UI, finishing the title, round start and end, following the proper score, etc. I'll keep you all posted on the mini game's progress. 

I didn't get to work on the Anal scene as much as I wanted, but going forward I'm going to take a day or tow to make the background stand out more before I continue more work on the cum shots.

As  for the update itself, while I wanted to have smaller tempo update releases to keep the speed of the project up, I think it would be best to have the next update be more substantial. I figured it's been a while since the last update, so people will be expecting a fuller experience from it. So from here on, I'm going to work on getting the game's game loop in integrated .  Basically, I want it to be the most basic version that I could technically consider feature complete. So the update will take a bit longer, but will feel more substantial when it comes out. And I'll be making weekly updates for the game here alongside the weekly updates on my Patreon and blogger.  I'm still planning out exactly what I'll need in the bigger update, but I'll let you all know as soon as I nail it down. I will also probably put an update out when the anal scene is done, just so y'all can mess around with it in the meantime, while I work on other stuff.

 The popups for when you catch or miss are really nice and remember no stressing yourself out. I hope you're doing well.
